On Monday, March 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern in Room 1334 of the Longworth House Office Building in Washington, D.C., Chair Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) will hold an in-person press conference to announce a newly rescheduled date for the full committee markup of the RESPECT Act (H.R. 3587).
The RESPECT Act, which Chair Grijalva introduced on May 28, 2021, will codify into law that federal agencies must consult with tribal governments before taking federal actions that will impact tribal lands, rights, resources, or citizens. The markup will be the first time in congressional history that this legislation will be considered before the full committee. A one-pager for the bill is available here.
